Ever notice how just about every store has a cute sundress for sale that looks like this? I tried on this dress at Old Navy yesterday. The dress was super cute, and a flattering shape, but the HOT PINK color was SO not me.
It's just a simple looking lined dress with thin straps, a ruffle, and elastic at the waist and at the top. It looks easy enough to make, right? So, why is it that I haven't seen a tutorial for one of these yet? I would love to make one, in a color other than hot pink obviously ;-)
So, dear internet readers, if you have seen a tutorial for this, or have made one of these puppies, I'm all ears! I'm just wondering if there is some kind of trick to encase the elastic between the layers of the dress or something... hmmm.
I don't know about a tutorial, but I think I saw a dress like this on craftster. I'm pretty sure it's just two rectangles, one for the skirt and one for the bodice, with elastic at the bust and waist. I think you can just make a casing for the elastic on the skirt and then sew the skirt onto the bodice, stretching it out like you would for sewing elastic directly to fabric.
ReplyDeleteIf you try it let me know if it works, and let us know if you actually find a tutorial for it! :) I'd like to try it, too.
